Lelujah (Lelu) Semlar’s mother taught her she was magic. God blessed her with the ability to see the intentions of others in the form of unique hues of light or darkness that cover them. What she didn’t know, and what her mother failed to tell her, was that her gift could be taken away. 

Lelu and her siblings were no strangers to immense grief as children, but hers didn’t end there. And without her gift, it doesn’t take long for her to fall helpless at the hands of her own poor decisions, which followed her from adolescence to adulthood, intricately weaving pain and heartache into her life. 

It’s not until the family she has worked so hard to create and protect is uprooted and must move across the United States that she finally feels a reprieve from the burden of circumstance. And, maybe, coming back to her childhood home is what her family needed. Will she regain the gift God gave her as a child and finally protect herself and her family like she has always wanted? Or will the curse of grief that has caused her much turmoil knock at her door once again?
